Although I see you have not been on in some time I have some very interesting information on this subject. When I was about 5 my grabdpa started bringing me to a place called Hammonds Camp, and from 9 on I have lived in this area mostly, except for military service. My grandpa has shown me old mines, many, including two he got silver ore out of, mixed with lead I believe. One was flooded by a spring, the other was dug above it in an attempt to bypass the spring. There is also another, which I have not been in, but is a shaft mine, and has the remnants of a pulley system above it. There is probably no place in the forest in Pulaski, McCreary, Whitley, and Wayne countues that I have not walked in, and am still active. I had been told that the silver was not economical to mine at the 5 dollars or sp an ounce it was then, but I have seen quartz in the area which had gold and silver flakes in it. I have no idea how to assay it but I would be willing to show these places to you.
