Which first HF Tranceiver brand would you purchase? WOW that is a difficult question to answer.  However, it would depend on several things. The first being, and foremost being, How much do you want to spend? I am no long going to live beyond my means, and plan on saving more money as I am sure everyone is. If I was looking for a good started model, simple to use and reliable radio. I would probably go with the Icom ic 718. Nothing fancy about this radio, but a good reliable radio.
