Anyone considering the hobby for the first time would most likely ask this type of question. I know there are cheaper ones out there and the work. If you are considering getting into metal detecting and want to experience a real good time I would suggest finding others that might have different detectors and go with them before purchasing. It might make your decision a little easier.
Cheaper is better for the pocket, however; when detecting, you might leave somethings out there that a newer little higher end detector might have found.
